Marietta is the water coming in at the top of the pool and Conowingo is the water the dam lets out at the bottom. More coming in than going out and the pool fills and rises; more going out than coming in and it falls. The normal lines are the normal flow for this date, so a wet or dry spell for the time of year is not mistaken for the dam's doing. The pool is big, about 9,000 acres, so the level moves slowly, and Marietta water takes some hours to travel down through Holtwood into the pool, so read this as the trend for the hours ahead.
